  15. Like all of us in 2020, our founder, Morgan Dixon, was faced with the harsh reality of losing her job in wake of the Covid-19 pandemic. As terrifying as it was (still is), it’s in these moments that we’re forced to see what we’re made of. In May 2020, after 14+ years of working for various dance studios, community centers, schools, and theaters, Morgan realized it was time to do what scared but excited her most and set out to create My Art House Studio. Our goal is to provide affordable and inclusive dance and art classes that look beyond a final product and give our artists the tools needed to become kind-hearted, creative, and confident people through an artist-centered, integrated, and responsive teaching style that allows our artists to have a say in their creative journey and enhance their academic education. More about our founder: Morgan Dixon is a Florida native living in Chicago, IL with a BA in Dance from Columbia College Chicago and is a graduate of The Second City Conservatory. She has over 14 years experience teaching a wide variety of performing and creative arts to artists ages 2 to adult. Morgan didn’t begin dancing until the age of 14 due to a lack of funds and art exposure. Dance allowed her to be a first-generation college graduate despite many monetary and economic barriers. Traditional dance studio classes were expensive and, at times, inaccessible. Morgan constantly worked multiple odd jobs, relied heavily on the kindness of mentors, and acknowledges that her privileges helped keep dance in her life. It is with these experiences that Morgan has now dedicated herself to providing low cost, easy access classes to young artists across the country. My Art House Studio is just the beginning of her advocacy for arts education. We now offer 6 week courses! Join us once a week for 6 weeks as we dive deeper into our unique and carefully designed dance, crafts, and creative movement classes. All classes take place on Zoom, include weekly recommended activities outside of class, and are 30-45 minutes long. These courses give our artists the opportunity to build community, expand their creativity, build strength and feel confident! Next sessions: Week of January 4th- week of February 8th (Enrollment open NOW) Week of February 15th- week of March 22nd (Enrollment opens Jan 15th) Upcoming Courses: Kindergarten Boogie | Mondays| 3-330pm CST | Ages 3-6 Make & Move | Wednesdays | 3-3:45pm CST | Ages 4-6 Pop Dance Party | Wednesdays | 5:30pm CST | Ages 7-12 Story Time | Thursdays | 3:30-4:15pm CST | Ages 3-6
